Oil Spill Operator - First Responder

This course is ideal for tactical response teams of oil terminals, ports and harbours who will be the first responders during an oil spill incident in their facilities.

• First Responder equipment operators
• All members of tactical oil spill response teams who perform non-supervisory oil spill response duties
• Operational staff from ports and harbours
• Oil terminal operators

This course reveals the essential skills and knowledge required to perform the role of a First Responder within a tactical response team, from understanding the behaviour of oil in the environment to help determine the best response strategy, through to the deployment of response equipment.

Throughout this course, you will learn and experience the following:

• Discover the fates and effects of oil and how it behaves in the environment
• Explore the social, economic and environmental impacts that determine response priorities and strategies to minimise impact
• Understand response tools and equipment, including limitations for use and maintenance procedures
