Core membership coverage stockpiles

Through our core membership coverage, our members are assured immediate access to regionally positioned dispersant stockpiles. These dispersants have been carefully selected based on international approval status, ensuring wide applicability and rapid mobilisation.

Our stockpiles are held at strategic locations around the world and maintained in partnership with other Oil Spill Response Organisations (OSROs), national agencies, and private industry. Members are entitled to 100% of these resources by volume, regardless of where they operate.

Enhanced membership coverage stockpiles

Through enhanced membership coverage, we offer additonal stockpiles of dispersant suited for your operations. Our Global Dispersant Stockpile and UK Dispersant Stockpile are strategically located to further enhance your response operations.

Global Dispersant Inventory (GDI)

The Global Dispersant Inventory is a database of additional known third‑party (non-OSRL) dispersant stockpiles, offering industry greater visibility of resources that could be accessed during a large‑scale response.

Core membership coverage dispersant stockpile (SLA)

As part of the core membership coverage, a stockpile of dispersant is available for member use. These stockpiles are readily accessible, easily mobilised, and regionally located in the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, USA, and Bahrain. Dispersants chosen are those with the widest worldwide approvals and members have access to 100%, by volume, regardless of location.

Global Dispersant Inventory

The Global Dispersant Inventory is a database of additional global stockpiles which are owned by third parties. OSRL maintains this database with details of non-OSRL stockpiles that we are aware of. In the event of large dispersant demand, OSRL can provide details of these stockpiles and where appropriate, facilitate discussions with the owners. There is no guarantee of access however the tool is designed to provide industry with visibility of other global stockpiles which could potentially be accessed in a large-scale response.

Dispersant stockpile FAQs

The stockpile contains seven different dispersant types (listed by volume, greatest first): Corexit EC9500A, Slickgone NS, Corexit 9527, Slickgone EW, Finasol OSR52, Finasol OSR51 and Superdispersant 25. These dispersants have the widest range of global approvals.

The dispersant is maintained, tested, regularly repackaged, and stored in covered warehouses. The current efficacy is approximately 90%.

You can call the OSRL Duty Manager for more information on the dispersant owner. We cannot guarantee that the stockholder will release any of the listed volumes and as the requesting party, you are responsible for negotiating access, sales agreements, arranging logistics and financing mobilisation costs.

We cannot provide assurance to the condition or efficacy of dispersant stocks that we do not own or maintain.
