Join OSRL, Ipieca, and IOGP in Singapore on 24 September for a one-day joint Global Member Forum, our members will come together to explore key developments in oil spill preparedness and response as part of SpillAsia.
Through a series of presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will examine lessons from past incidents, share regional perspectives, and identify opportunities to enhance collective resilience in an increasingly complex operating environment.
What to expect
This OSRL-Ipieca-IOGP Forum will focus specifically on the regional needs of the oil and gas industry, where expectations for spill preparedness and response are considerably high. We will be inviting members of OSRL, Ipieca, and IOGP to join us for a programme consisting of the following themes:
Session 1 - From Prevention to Response: Strengthening Industry Collaboration in Source Control and Emergency Response
The opening session focuses on the evolution of source control preparedness and emergency response. Drawing on significant well control events that have shaped the industry's approach to risk management, speakers will explore how lessons learned have driven improvements in prevention, planning, and response capability.
Participants will hear updates from the IOGP Well Expert Committee, gain insight into the latest source control emergency response planning guidance for subsea wells, and learn about OSRL's subsea well intervention services. The session concludes with a panel discussion examining how industry collaboration continues to strengthen source control preparedness.
Session 2 - Enhancing Stakeholder Engagement for Spill Preparedness in Southeast Asia
The second session highlights the critical role of stakeholder engagement in building effective spill preparedness and response capabilities throughout Southeast Asia. Bringing together representatives from industry, government, and international organisations, the session will explore how sustained collaboration helps build trust and improve response outcomes across the region.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the Global Initiative, speakers will reflect on the programme's achievements and demonstrate how initiatives such as GI SEA continue to drive preparedness through regional cooperation. Through presentations, panel discussions, and participant engagement, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within Southeast Asia's operating environment and the value that collaborative partnerships bring to both industry and government stakeholders.
Session 3- Shared Challenges, Shared Solutions: Industry Perspectives from Asia-Pacific
The final session provides an interactive platform for operators across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the evolving landscape in which they operate. Topics include geopolitical developments, changing trade patterns, energy security, supply chain pressures, workforce challenges, and emerging technologies that influence preparedness and operational decision-making.
Following a scene-setting discussion, participants will take part in facilitated group discussions to identify common challenges, emerging trends, and opportunities. The session is designed to encourage open dialogue and practical knowledge sharing, helping to identify priority areas where collective industry action can strengthen preparedness, resilience, and operational effectiveness across the region.
Together, the three sessions showcase the importance of collaboration at every stage of preparedness and response, from source control and emergency planning to stakeholder engagement and regional cooperation. The forum aims to provide delegates with practical insights, strengthen industry relationships, and support the collective action needed to address current and future challenges facing the spill response community.
