AI for Oil Spill Preparedness and Response

This Members-only course is suitable for:

The course is designed for operational users rather than technical or IT roles.
No previous AI knowledge is required.

Apply AI to core preparedness and response activities, including planning, exercise delivery and reporting, using real operational examples.

During this face-to-face course, you will:

• Learn how AI supports preparedness, incident management and training activities
• Use prompts to complete common operational tasks accurately and efficiently
• Apply AI to develop response plans and improve existing documentation
• Create exercise scenarios, injects and visual materials
• Prepare post-exercise outputs, including reports and lessons learnt
• Gain practical experience through hands-on exercises based on realistic scenarios

Alongside practical exercises integrated throughout the day, during this Members-only, face-to-face course, you will cover the following topics:

• Introduction to AI in oil spill preparedness and response
• AI fundamentals for operational use
• Prompt techniques for preparedness and incident management tasks
• Drafting and refining response plans using AI tools
• Exercise design, including scenarios and injects
• Creating visual and video content using AI
• Reporting, including post-exercise and lessons learnt outputs
• Building a simple AI agent to support workflows
• Responsible and controlled use of AI

This course is designed to deliver immediate capability. Participants leave with all course materials and an AI basics handbook.

Delegates can choose to work with OSRL example material or apply the tools to their own organisational content during practical sessions.

The course is highly interactive. Delegates work through practical exercises during each module, applying AI tools to realistic preparedness scenarios. By the end of the day, participants will have practised everything covered in the course
