Shamsol is a seasoned expert in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) with over 30 years of comprehensive experience. He currently serves as the Head of Crisis and Incident Management at PETRONAS, where he leads incident and crisis management for the PETRONAS Group of Companies. Shamsol holds a master degree in Combustion Science & Pollution Control and an engineering degree in Chemical Engineering and Fuel Technology from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
His illustrious career spans various senior leadership roles, including Head of HSE at Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) and Head of HSE at numerous PETRONAS operating units. Shamsol has spearheaded numerous initiatives in HSE governance, policy development, and assurance, aligning with international standards like ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and industry’s best practices. A leader on HSE and sustainability in the Malaysian oil and gas industry, he promotes sustainable development practices, with an emphasis on low carbon energy transitions and greenhouse gas emission reductions. His efforts have significantly shaped the HSE landscape in Malaysia, promoting international good practices among oil and gas operators in Malaysia.
